Crossroads was formed in Willmar, MN by owner/director Daniel Nelson in February of 1998. Crossroads has since grown to have two satellite offices serving the communities of Benson, MN and Alexandria, MN.

Here at Crossroads we focus on individual, including Adults, Adolescents, and Children; as well as couples, families, and pre-marital.

When clients walk through our door that identify themselves as non-religious, non-spiritual, and/or non-Christian, we strive to have them feel welcome and comfortable. Our therapists at Crossroads are Christian by faith, from a variety of denominational backgrounds. However, as licensed professionals, we honor the personal beliefs and convictions of the clients we serve. Clients choose if and how they would like to incorporate their personal faith or spirituality into counseling.

Christian clients who seek to develop their faith can be sure to find a competent counselor here who can walk with them on their journey of spiritual development with grace. Clients can be assured that we will follow biblical principles. Also, clients who identify as a Christian and prefer not to discuss the Bible or Christian values or do not wish to include their spirituality in the counseling process will not be forced to do so.

Simply put, we need a place to put our “stuff.” We at Crossroads see that the place to put it is on the cross where Jesus took our sin and shame on Himself (I Peter 2:24). This is an underlying understanding for all our staff, but is not a specified mode or directive in therapy. We respect all individuals and their religions/spiritual perspectives.

Crossroads is a safe place for people of all walks and perspectives. There are specific situations where people want to find a place where they can deal with their clinical issues with some level of spiritual processing and insight. We endeavor to provide this at Crossroads. The use of Scripture and prayer in sessions is available if client desires, but the main focus is always the clinical work at hand.

No, we do not provide professional childcare here at Crossroads. However, we do have a designated area for older (school-aged) children to watch movies, play, and color if you are not able to find care during your scheduled session.

All of our providers schedule their own appointments, and will occasionally take weekend or evening appointments on a case by case basis.
